F2 Logistics came from set down beat Foton, 18-25, 25-28, 25-21, 25-19, on Wednesday to win the All Filipino conference title in its second stint in the Philippine Super Liga at The Arena in San Juan.
It was a huge recovery for the Cargo Movers, who won the opener of the best-of-three title series in five sets before dropping the second match in four sets.
Ara Galang scored 12, Kim Dy had 11 points and Aby Marano had 10 for the Cargo Movers, who clinched the title with a service ace from Mika Reyes.
F2 Logistics became the fourth team to win a championship in the three-year league history after three-time champs Philippine Army, two-time winners Petron and Foton. But Cargo Movers coach Ramil de Jesus is more pleased with his team's consistent performance throughout their title run.
The nine-time UAAP champion coach even had an ace up his sleeve when he fielded Cyd Demecillo late in the first set that gave F2 Logistics an added boost, while making it hard for Foton to guess what will be de Jesus’ next move.
The Cargo Movers were outscored on attacks (41-51) but the Tornadoes’ 37 errors played a crucial part in their loss.
“Kasi first set, sobrang mataas ang adrenaline ng Foton so sabi ko kung hindi masu-sustain baka maging factor ‘yun na bumaba ang laro (natin). Although nangyari naman kasi na-less namin ang mga unforced errors sa second set and then medyo nahirapan rumecieve ang Foton,” said de Jesus.
Jaja Santiago, who missed the National University match in the V-League, came up with 20 points and UST's Cherry Rondina added 12 but no other Foton player scored in double figures.
