IMPORTS Lindsay Stalzer and Becky Perry lifted F2 Logistics in beating Sta. Lucia, 25-23, 25-14, 25-16, to regain its winning ways in the Philippine Superliga Grand Prix on Tuesday at the FilOil Flying V Centre in San Juan City.
Stalzer and Perry dropped 17 points each as the Cargo Movers made short work of the Lady Realtors in just an hour and 21 minutes to bounce back from a four-set defeat to PLDT Home Fibr last Saturday, where they missed head coach Ramil de Jesus due to his duty as De La Salle coach in UAAP Season 81.
Perry fired 10 spikes, four service aces and three blocks laced up with 11 digs, while Stalzer nailed 15 of her 17 markers from kills in the straight-sets win to bring back F2 Logistics to the winning track and keep the hold of the second place with an 8-2 win-loss record.
Middle blockers Aby Maraño and Majoy Baron also shone with nine and seven points, respectively, to regain the team’s confidence before facing unbeaten rival Petron (10-0) on Saturday.
Although the Cargo Movers only had 10 errors in the game, F2 Logistics head coach Ramil de Jesus, however, rued on the slow start of his wards needing to overcome a neck-and-neck battle in the first set through Pam Lastimosa’s attack error to escape in the opening frame.
“Slow start masyado so parang walang kumpiyansa sabi ko bakit ganun parang hindi niyo kilala yung sarili niyo habang naglalaro kayo,” De Jesus said. “Hindi naman dapat i-pressure ito naman mga nakalaban niyo na, nadaanan niyo na nung first round so alam niyo kung paano maglalaro then ano yung strength and weakness ng kalaban.”
De Jesus’s motivational words worked for the Cargo Movers as they annihilated the Lady Realtors in the succeeding sets never looking back.
Casey Schoenlein was the lone bright spot for Sta. Lucia with 12 points and 11 digs as her team dropped to 2-7 card before facing PLDT (6-5) on Thursday.
