IMUS, Cavite - F2 Logistics shut down erstwhile unbeaten Foton, 25-15, 23-25, 25-23, 26-24, in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix on Tuesday at the Imus Sports Complex here.
American import Hayley Spelman finished with 23 points for the Cargo Movers while Aby Maraño added 16. Ara Galang chipped in 13 and skipper Cha Cruz had 12.
"Goal ng mga bata, kasi nagsabi ang import na gusto manalo this game. Ginawa naman nila, nag-effort sila," said F2 Logistics coach Ramil de Jesus after the team improved to 5-2.
The Cargo Movers repulsed every attack by the Tornadoes as Maraño and Spelman were solid at the net while Dawn Macandili with the help of Cruz at the back took care of the floor defense.
The two teams were even on attacks (53-53) but F2 Logistics dominated the net (16-6 blocks) and Macandili came up with 24 of the team's 51 digs. Cruz and Galang each had 15 and six excellent receptions.
"Sabi ko dumepensa lang, wala kaming ginawang iba," said de Jesus.
Spelman tricked her blockers and scored on an off-speed attack to give F2 Logistics the lead, 23-22, in the fourth set before her kill pushed the team to match point, 24-22.
Foton saved two match points but Mika Reyes blocked Angeli Araneta and Ariel Usher's error on the attack handed F2 Logistics the victory.
Foton relied on Stalzer and Usher, who had 23 and 21 points, respectively as it continues to miss Jaja Santiago. The team dropped to 6-1.
Stalzer sparked with 22 kills, 13 digs and eight excellent receptions, while Usher had 16 hits, four blocks and a service ace.
"Kumpyansa rin kami wala kasi si Jaja, eh kapag nandyan si Jaja parang apat na imports ang andyan," said de Jesus counting Stalzer, Usher and Jaja's older sister Dindin.
