UNBEATEN F2 Logistics takes on titleholder Petron in the second round of the 2016 Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference at the De La Salle Lipa Sentrum.
The Cargo Movers, unbeaten in eight matches, tries to take the lead in the round featuring the top four and held to determine the seeding for the semifinals.
RC Cola-Army looks to bounce back when it tangles with Foton at 5 p.m. Amy’s Kitchen and Cignal battle at 3 p.m. in the classification phase for those who did not make it to the top four.
Victories over Petron and Foton will give F2 the top seeding in the sudden-death semifinals, but F2 Logistics coach Ramil de Jesus isn’t concerned about rankings.
“That win over Army doesn’t mean a thing. The real battle is in the semifinals and the finals,” said de Jesus.
“We have to sustain our momentum and be consistent. We’re now in the second round and everybody is out to beat us. We can’t afford to relax. We have to be at our best all the time.”
The Cargo Movers featuring Aby Marano, Mika Reyes, Majoy Baron and Kim Dy scored two straight wins over the Lady Troopers, but Army coach Kungfu Reyes is confident his wards can easily bounce back.
“F2 Logistics is such a young team and we know that we have no chance winning over them in a game like this,” said Reyes.
“I think we just have to take it as a springboard to bounce back and win our remaining games in the eliminations.”
The Cargo Movers’ mettle, however, will be put to a serious test against the Tri-Activ Spikers.
After dropping two matches games in the first round, coach George Pascua believes Petron has adjusted and rookies Remy Palma and Bernadeth Pons can be expected to deliver bigger numbers.
“The adjustment period is over. We’re now ready for the ‘real battle,’” said Pascua. Petron is coming off an easy win over Standard Insurance-Navy, which is now in the race for fifth place in the tournament backed by KLab Cyscorpions, Mueller, Asics and Mikasa with TV5 as official broadcast partner.
“F2 Logistics is a serious contender. But we will give them a very good fight. We are the defending champions here and we will not go down without putting up a fight,” added Pascua.
