F2 Logistics moved a win closer to its first Philippine Super Liga Invitational Conference title after it defeated Petron, 18-25, 25-23, 20-25, 29-27, 16-14, on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.
Ara Galang had 18 points, while Majoy Baron had 15 markers, including a running attack to reach match point and the game-winning service ace for the Cargo Movers.
Gunning for its third title overall in the PSL, F2 Logistics can wrap up the best-of-three series on Saturday at the Ynares Sports Center in Pasig City.
“Sabi ko championship game ito, hindi pupwedeng hindi natin ibigay ang sarili natin lalo na hindi nagiging maganda ang tawag ng referee,” said F2 Logistics coach Ramil de Jesus.
“Sabi ko wala tayong kakampi kundi sarili lang natin, so asahan natin ang sarili natin. Kung kaya natin manalo kailangan sa sarili natin galing hindi sa errors ng kalaban,” he added.
Down by one, 6-7, in the fifth set, F2 Logistics went on a 4-0 spurt to take the lead, 10-7, and sustained the momentum to 13-10.
But Petron countered with a 4-1 rally, capped by a Rhea Dimaculangan block on Desiree Cheng, to tied the contest, 14-all.
“Sabi ko nga sa inyo, ‘yung team ng Petron mahirap mahanapan ng butas kasi madalang ‘yung unforced errors hindi basta-basta dumadating,” said the veteran mentor.
“Well ah lagi namang ready ‘yung Petron so dapat lang maging ready kami anytime na maghaharap eh,” said de Jesus.
Aby Maraño also had 10 points for F2 Logistics, which is looking to add to championships won in the All-Filipino (2016) and Grand Prix (2016) conferences.
Mika Reyes and Bernadeth Pons topscored for Petron with 14 points apiece while Aiza Maizo-Pontillas had 13. Skipper Ces Molina and Sisi Rondina chipped in 12 markers each.
