DEFENDING champion F2 Logistics cruised to its third straight win, defeating Cignal, 25-21, 25-17, 25-14, in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.
Venezuelan import Maria Jose Perez scored 16 points as the Cargo Movers improved to 4-1 at No. 2 behind unbeaten Petron (6-0), although coach Arnold Laniog was not too impressed.
“Nananalo nga kami pero hindi pa namin nakikita kung aggressive na ba sila kaagad from the start pa lang so dapat start strong kami,” he said.
“Nagawa naman ’yung gusto namin mangyari pero hindi nga lang nasustain hanggang matapos ang first set,” he added.
The Cargo Movers have two more matches in the first round and Laniog is hoping that they can work on their weakness.
F2 Logistics will face Foton on Saturday and Generika-Ayala on Tuesday to end the first round.
“Mahaba naman ang format ng tournament na ’to so one game at a time so still kailangan pa rin namin magtrabaho,” said Laniog.
American reinforcement Kennedy Bryan and former La Salle star Aby Maraño had nine markers apiece for the Cargo Movers, while Kim Fajardo registered 18 of the team’s 20 excellent sets and scored five points, all from the service line.
Bosnian import Sonja Milanovic scored 12 and American reinforcement Stiix Horton had 10 points for Cignal, in a three-way tie for fourth with Foton and Sta. Lucia.
