F2 Logistics coach Ramil de Jesus braces for ultimate test in PSL semifinals

    Dec 5, 2017
Ramil de Jesus braces for tougher outings for F2 Logistics.

TWO weeks ago, F2 Logistics head coach Ramil de Jesus was looking for a challenge that can test the mettle of his then 6-0 team.

Just three days after, the Cargo Movers lost to Foton in a thriller of a five-setter that saw the Tornadoes; Serbian import Sara Klisura dropping a league-record 41 points.

F2 was able to bounce back at the expense of Iriga City in the knockout quarterfinals, 25-19, 25-12, 25-17, on Tuesday, but de Jesus sees the road getting tougher from hereon for his team.

“Ito ‘yung hiahanap ko (na challenge) pero natapat kami na Iriga ang next game namin,” said de Jesus. “Mas makikilala mo ang team kung isa sa top three ang nakalaban namin (after the loss).”

“Makikita mo kung paano mag-recover ang character ng players, kung makakabalik ba sila, magba-bounce back, hihinto o sisisid pababa,” he added.

De Jesus is certain F2 Logistics will be tested in the knockout semifinals against either Cignal or Cocolife on Saturday at the MOA Arena.

Although the Cargo Movers have defeated both the HD Spikers and the Asset Managers in the elimination round, de Jesus is wary of the two sides' varying strengths.

“Magkaiba ng strength ang Cignal at Cocolife. Ang Cignal malakas ang mga middle (blockers nila), ang Cocolife matagal na magkakilala samahan pa ng mayos na import,” he said.

“Ang advantage naman namin sa dalawang teams is siguro mas kilala na nila (Cargo Movers) ang isa’t isa ngayon, mas napapaikot ni Kim (Fajardo, setter) ang rotation,” he added.
