DEFENDING champion F2 Logistics finished the elimination round of the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix on a high note after it dominated Foton, 25-17, 25-18, 25-17, on Tuesday at The Arena in San Juan.
Team captain Cha Cruz and Venezuelan import Maria Jose Perez each had 14 points for the Cargo Movers, who took the No. 1 spot with a 9-1 card and will enjoy a twice-to-beat advantage in the quarterfinals.
Although F2 Logistics and Petron have identical win-loss records, the Cargo Movers’ total match points are superior than the output of the Blaze Spikers (27-24).
“One game at a time lang kasi kami, kung ibigay sa amin mas mabuti, pero kasi ibang confidence rin para sa team na No. 1 ka and statement na rin kapag makakalaban mo ang ibang team,” said F2 Logistics coach Arnold Laniog.
F2 Logistics will face Gyselle Silva-led Smart in the quarterfinals.
The Cuban national team member unloaded a league record of 56 points in their previous match against Cocolife.
“Very challenging para sa amin so paghahandaan talaga namin,” said Laniog.
American import Kennedy Bryan made 11 points for the Cargo Movers, who earned 21 points, close to almost a set, from the Tornadoes’ errors in the match that took an hour and 16 minutes to finish.
Channon Thompson from Trinidad and Tobago and Dindin Santiago-Manabat combined for 21 points for Foton, which slid to 5-5 at the fourth spot.
