FOTON has activated rookie sensation Eya Laure for injured Maika Ortiz as it plays its last preliminary match against Marinerang Pilipina on Tuesday at the Malolos Sports and Convention Center.
Philippine Superliga officials approved the request of Foton to replace Ortiz, who is nursing an ACL injury, for the University of Santo Tomas rookie.
Laure was initially listed as reserve player for the Tornadoes as she was nursing a left foot injury that she sustained in the UAAP Season 81 Finals Game 2 against Ateneo.
The UAAP top rookie, who also won the 1st Best Outside Spiker and an MVP candidate, is expected to add more fire power joining sisters Jaja Santiago and Dindin Santiago-Manabat.
Foton is in a must-win situation on Tuesday against Marinerang Pilipina as it needs to improve its 7-6 win-loss record at joint fourth place to steal the third seed from idle Generika-Ayala (8-6).
The Tornadoes need to beat the Lady Skippers in three or four sets and pray for the F2 Logistics to beat Cignal in the second game for them to secure the no.3 spot.
