MICHELLE Morente found her new home and regained her confidence in F2 Logistics after playing instrumental in the Cargo Movers’ recent title run in the Philippine Superliga (PSL) Invitational Conference.

Morente, a former Ateneo Lady Eagle who transferred to De La Salle, said that it was her way of giving back to the chance and trust given by F2 Logistics head coach Ramil de Jesus.

“Siyempre, you have to earn your coach's trust kahit saang team ka pa mapunta, kahit saan ka galing. Knowing na he trusts me and may natutulong ako sa team, that's a great feeling,” said Morente, who was a sparkplug off the bench in the Invitational Finals.

De Jesus admitted that he had a different impression on Morente when they were still rivals in UAAP.

    But Morente proved him wrong.

“‘Yung bata kasi, naintindihan ko 'yung nakikita ko sa kanya noon sa UAAP. Ganito pala 'yung attitude niya na kapag nasa loob ng court medyo mayabang, pero once na makilala mo siya, makikita mo na ubod ng bait,” De Jesus, the three-time PSL and 11-time UAAP champion coach, said.

Morente was grateful that De Jesus and the Lady Spikers welcomed her to their family even she came from a rival team.

“Nasabi niya na sa akin 'yun dati. Siyempre, kailangan ko makisama kasi I'm new to the environment. Siyempre, alam ko kung ano 'yung lugar ko,” she said. “Tinanggap nila ako with open arms talaga; the team, the management, the school. I felt at home agad with them.”

As starting opposite hitter Kianna Dy struggled in their series with Petron, Morente stepped up when it mattered most, providing seven points including 21 excellent digs of 26 attempts in their come-from-behind Game One win before chipping in five points in their title-clinching victory in Game Two.

“Sobrang happy kasi kahit off-the-bench ako, I can still contribute,” she said. “‘Yung mga seniors ko like Ate Aby (Maraño) mismo 'yung nagsasabi na kailangan ako ng team. Ini-isa niya na ma-uplift kaming lahat. She makes everyone feel important. It just made me realize na iba talaga 'yung samahan ng team.”

As of now, Morente is still uncertain if she is eligible to play for De La Salle in UAAP Season 81 next year.

“Actually, I don't really know. Lahat sila are just telling me na basta i-ready ko 'yung grades ko. Sabi ko, ready naman ako,” she concluded.
