Dindin Santiago shows way as Blaze Spikers nip Tornadoes in five for second straight win in Super Liga

DINDIN Santiago-Manabat led the way as Petron edged Foton, 21-25, 25-20, 25-13, 12-25, 15-9, on Thursday for its second straight win in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix at The Arena in San Juan.

Santiago-Manabat scored 28 points as the Blaze Spikers, who suffered an opening-day loss to Cignal, improved their win-loss record to 2-1.

Frances Molina added 11 points for Petron in the match that lasted for almost two hours.

Petron is in second behind Cignal, which holds a 2-0 card.

The Blaze Spikers fell behind 0-2 in the fifth set but scored nine straight points to take control.

The Tornadoes cut down the deficit, 8-12, but Petron scored another point and back-to-back miscues from Foton sealed the win the Blaze Spikers.

It was the fourth in six matches that reached a deciding set.

Returning import Lindsay Stalzer, who played for Cignal last year, scored 27 points for Foton, while Katie Messing added 12.

Foton recruit Jaja Santiago debuted with 12 markers for the Tornadoes, who hold an even 1-1 card.
