DARLENE Ramdin led Generika-Ayala to outlast Cignal, 26-24, 18-25, 16-25, 25-22, 15-11, in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.
The prolific import from Trinidad and Tobago poured in 26 points, built on 23 kills, for the Life Savers, who finished the first round of elimination with a 2-5 win-loss card at the seventh spot.
Generika-Ayala, however, will have to wait for the result of the ongoing match between Foton (2-4) and Sta. Lucia (3-3) to determine its placing in the second round.
“Pinag-aralan naman namin kaso sabi nga namin kahit sino pwede (manalo), wala naman mahina dito eh, basta may import lalaban ‘yan,” said Generika-Ayala coach Sherwin Meneses.
As per league rules, the No. 1 team, which is Petron, will be in Pool A along with the third, sixth and eighth ranked teams, while No.2 seed F2 Logistics will be in Pool A with the fourth, fifth and seventh teams.
American import Symone Hayden also had 16 points for the Life Savers, while skipper Angeli Araneta added 13 markers and 23 digs in a match that took two hours and 13 minutes to finish.
Bosnian reinfircement Sonja Milanovic erupted with 34 points, from 25 spikes and nine of the team’s 18 blocks, for Cignal, while American hitter Stiix Horton had 19 markers.
The HD Spikers dropped to 3-4.
