    Cocolife bundles out Cignal, arranges PSL Grand Prix semis clash with F2 Logistics

    LEAGUE newcomer Cocolife completed the semifinals cast of the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix after sweeping Cignal, 25-23, 25-23, 25-20, on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.

    The Asset Managers, who came in fifth both in the Invitational and the All-Filipino Conferences, assured themselves of their best finish yet in the PSL and will face powerhouse F2 Logistics in the knockout semifinals on Saturday at the Mall of Asia Arena.

    American imports Shar Latai Manu-Olevao and Taylor Milton led the way with 21 and 14 points, respectively, for Cocolife in a match that took an hour and 46 minutes to finish.

    Army veterans Nene Bautista and Ging Balse-Pabayo also had seven and four markers apiece and skipper Michele Gumabao added five points.

      Honey Royse Tubino finished with 13 points for Cignal while Jannine Marciano registered 11 before she suffered a suspected left knee ligament sprain after a bad landing late in the third set.

      The former San Beda College was stretchered off the court and was taken to Cardinal Santos Medical Center for MRI.

      It was a sorry campaign for the HD Spikers who, went downhill after a championship in the Invitational Conference followed by a bronze-medal finish in the All-Filipino and a fifth-place finish in the import-flavored conference.
