BACOOR City — Cignal scored its second straight win, ripping Smart, 25-10, 26-24, 25-18, on Thursday in the Philippine Super Liga Invitational Conference at Strike Gym.
Rachel Anne Daquis scored 13 and Mylene Paat had 12 points for the HD Spikers, who are now 2-0 in Pool B.
“Satisfied ako sa ginalaw nila, ito ang gusto kong igalaw nila na hindi nila ginawa noong first game,” said coach Edgar Barroga as Cignal scored 13 blocks in the one hour and 32-minute match.
Daquis scored back-to-back service aces to give the HD Spikers a 16-5 lead before Nene Bautista, Dimdim Pacres and Tin Francisco got the Giga Hitters to within four, 18-22.
Janine Navarro sparked Cignal’s 3-0 spurt to finish off the match.
“Sabi ko ’wag kayo mataranta, sumasabay sila sa laro ng kalaban,” he said. “‘Yung position namin kasi nawala sila sa position nila, nakita ko kasi ‘yung diakarte ng Smart binabatuhan kami ng bola sa mga suluk-sulok.”
Bautista scored six for Smart, while Pacres and Francisco, who both came off the bench, scored six and five markers, respectively.
The Giga Hitters slid to 1-1.
