TITLEHOLDER Petron goes for the solo lead when it battles slumping Cignal on Tuesday in the 2016 Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference at the Cuneta Astrodome.
The TriActiv Spikers take on the HD Spikers at 6 p.m. after the 4 p.m. match between Foton and Amy’s Kitchen.
Tied for the lead with F2 Logistics and RC Cola-Army, the Tri-Activ Spikers eye their third win in as many matches and will again lean on veteran Aiza Maizo-Pontillas and new acquisition Bernadeth Pons of Far Eastern University.
“Although I love the result of our previous games, the job is not yet done. It’s still a long way to go,” said Petron coach George Pascua.
“We still have to work hard. All teams are strong. We can’t afford to be complacent.”
Cignal is winless in two matches and coach Sammy Acaylar hopes a players meeting would help as they try to stop the bleeding.
Acaylar is counting on Jeanette Panaga, Carmela Tunay, Janine Navarro and Cherry Vivas to deliver better numbers, and is hoping others would chip in.
“We have yet to find the right chemistry on the floor,” said Acaylar.
“But it’s good that this issue cropped up early on. At least we still have more time to solve this problem. We still have six more games. It’s still a long way to go. But we have to figure out a solution as soon as possible.”
In the curtain-raiser, Foton seeks its second victory as it battles winless Amy’s Kitchen.
The Tornadoes dropped their opening-day encounter to Petron, but evened their card by downing Generika in four sets.
