JEANETTE Panaga showed the way as Cignal eased to a 25-21, 25-12, 25-21 victory over winless Amy's Kitchen on Saturday in the Philippine Super Liga All Filipino Conference at The Arena in San Juan.
It was only the second victory in seven matches for the HD Spikers as Amy's Kitchen absorbed their seventh loss.
Panaga led all scorers with 18 points highlighted by 12 hits while Cherry May Vivas scored 10.
“Kahit nanalo kami hindi ako satisfied kasi as I said before, ’yung ipinapakita nila sa ensayo hindi ganoon kaganda sa actual game,” said HD Spikers coach Sammy Acaylar.
“Maybe there’s something wrong psychologically with my players kasi napapansin ko sa kanila na kapag nauunahan biglang nada-down. Hindi nila alam kung paano i-recover ang sarili nila,” he added.
Out of contention for the trophy, Cignal has been relegated to the classification phase with Amy’s Kitchen, Generika and Standard Insurance Navy.
“In-accept ko naman ang mga talo namin and hindi kami nakapasok sa top four. But still it’s a lesson learned para sa amin,” said Acaylar, who steered Cignal to back-to-back runner-up finishes in the inaugural season of the PSL.
“Now we’re focusing sa Goup B, na doon kami napunta. Sabi ko sa kanila na we’ll juts play at ipakita sa mga tao at management na kahit ganoon ang nangyari we have to bounce back and give our best sa PSL,” he added.
Coleen Bravo scored 13 points for Amy’s Kitchen.
