CIGNAL captured the bronze medal of the Philippine Superliga Invitational Conference after cruising to a 25-22, 25-15, 25-17 victory over Foton on Thursday at the Ynares Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Following a heartbreaking three-set loss to F2 Logistics in the semifinals last Tuesday in Malolos City, the HD Spikers vented their ire on the Tornadoes, prevailing in an hour and 35 minutes for a decent third-place finish in the season-ending conference.

Roselyn Doria led the balanced-attack of Cignal with a game-high 11 points off six attacks, three blocks and two aces, while Rachel Anne Daquis and Mylene Paat had 10 and nine points, respectively.

Do-it-all setter Alohi Robins-Hardy also shone with 14 excellent sets and 10 points built on four kills, three blocks and as many as aces.

“Medyo meron silang hugot. Sa mga nangyari sa mga nakaraang laro nila. Ito yung dapat nilang patunayan na dapat nandoon din sila sa championship. Kaya ganun laro nila,” said Cignal head coach Edgar Barroga.

“Happy pa rin kami kasi, di man namin nakuha yung championship o nakapaglaro sa championship. Napakita pa rin ng bawat isa kung ano yung napaghirapan namin,” he added.

Cignal ended the 2019 season with a fourth place finish in the Grand Prix, runner-up finish in the All-Filipino Conference before this third place in the Invitational.

No one from Foton scored in double figures as Marian Buitre led the way with nine points only to settle for fourth place.

The Tornadoes lost CJ Rosario, who sprained her left knee after landing awkwardly from a spike attempt early in the third set.
