Channon Thompson, Jaja Santiago power Foton past Cocolife to settle for third place

FOTON settled for third place in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix after it turned back Cocolife, 21-25, 25-22, 26-24, 25-19, on Tuesday at the Araneta Coliseum.

Channon Thompson from Trinidad and Tobago finished with 26 points, 11 digs and 13 excellent receptions, while UAAP MVP Jaja Santiago had 23 points to lead the Tornadoes, who bagged their second third place finish.

Foton went ahead, 21-14, in the fourth set before an error and Cocolife import Marta Drpa three straight points got the Asset Managers within three, 18-21.

But the Tornadoes countered with their own 4-0 run to end the Asset Managers’ agony in the match that took almost two hours to finish.

Drpa made 23 points and nine digs for, while skipper Sara Klisura had 14 markers and 19 excellent receptions for Cocolife.
