F2 Logistics dethroned Petron, 25-18, 25-15, 25-13, to set up a finals showdown with Foton in the Philippine Super Liga All Filipino Conference at The Arena in San Juan on Saturday.
The Cargo Movers and the Tornadoes will tangle in a best-of-three Finals series starting on Thursday.
“Tinalo na namin sila, tinalo nila kami so magandang laban,” said Cargo Movers coach Ramil de Jesus, whose team’s lone loss so far came from Foton.
"Ang target talaga namin, hindi naman siguro nagte-training ang team kung ang pinaghahandaan lang talaga ang fourth (place), ang goal talaga namin pumasok sa Finals,” he added.
La Salle stalwart Kim Dy and former Lady Spiker skipper Cha Cruz led the way for F2 Logistics with 12 and 10 markers, respectively, in a match that took an hour and 15 minutes to finish.
The Cargo Movers shook off a sluggish start after they saw themselves trailing 10-14 in the first set but de Jesus’ wards woke up just in time to turn the tables to their favor.
“Nakunan namin sila ng first set, kasi down kami ng first set eh, so noong inabot namin ang score siguro na-down morale sila (Petron) so sa second set na-dominate namin and then hindi na nakabangon (ang kalaban),” said de Jesus.
F2 Logistics leaned on a strong defense at the net with seven blocks against only one of Petron, and the Cargo Movers capitalized on the Tri-Activ Spikers’ poor reception. The La Salle-powered F2 Logistics scored on 13 service aces on nine excellent receptions of Petron.
Skipper Aiza Maizo-Pontillas only had eight points for Petron, which will face RC Cola Army for the battle for third place.
