PHILIPS Gold put behind its heartbreaking loss the last time via a hard-earned 25-20, 21-25, 16-25, 25-22, 15-12 upset of defending champion Petron in the Philippine Super Grand Prix Saturday at the Astrodome.
University of California, Los Angeles standout Bojana Todorovic tallied 25 points while Alexis Olgard and Myla Pablo finished with 21 and 20 points, respectively, for the Lady Slammers, who finally barged to the win column for an even 1-1 record.
The victory came in the wake of the team’s sorry, five-set loss to Cignal last week, 25-15, 15-25, 17-25, 25-19, 14-16.
The charming Todorovic punished the Blaze Spikers with furious attacks from the backrow that factored the Lady Slammers win in a game of changing fortunes.
"It all came down to heart, that's all my team had,” said the comely Todorovic, obviously borrowing a page from Gilas Pilipinas' popular 'puso' battlecry
“Volleyball is an up-and-down sport, momentum is gonna change all the time. But if you have the heart, you'll surely going to win it.”
Frances Molina made 24 points, while Dindin Santiago-Manabat added 12 for Petron, which fell to a 2-2 slate.
