PETRON star Mika Reyes was the first to reach out to F2 Logistics as her current team dethroned her former teammates, 26-24, 24-26, 24-26, 25-23, 15-11, in the Philippine Super Liga All-Filipino Conference on Thursday.
Right after the Blaze Spikers celebrated on their side of the court, Reyes hugged some of the Cargo Movers on her way to the hallway before they were called for the awarding ceremony on Thursday at The Arena in San Juan.
“I’m very happy for the team, the team wants this championship,” said Reyes, who was named Second Best Middle Blocker.
But it was hard for the La Salle alum to see her former teammates inconsolable after the loss. After bringing tremendous joy with a service ace to give the title to F2 last year, Reyes now ironically dealt the heartbreaking blow to the Cargo Movers.
Aby Marano, a usual beast-mode player on the court, was a picture of a vanquished warrior, sobbing heavily, while Kim Fajardo, approached Reyes and the two hugged each other tight and she also gave comfort to First best middle blocker winner Majoy Baron of F2.
“Syempre aaminin ko rin medyo nalungkot ako,” she said.
“Former teammates ko pa rin sila, part pa rin sila ng buhay ko,” she added. “Alam mo ‘yung nakaka-off lang and ayaw ko silang nakikitang umiyak. Teammates ko pa rin sila.”
