BEA de Leon may have confirmed her stay with Ateneo but her stint with Foton in the Philippine Super Liga All-Filipino Conference is uncertain.
The incoming fifth-year Ateneo star, who ended months of speculations whether to play her final year, sets her focus on the UAAP women’s volleyball tournament February next year.
“We'll see with the arrangement first. For now, alam nilang (Foton) priority ko ang Ateneo,” said de Leon.
Although her stint with the Tornadoes in the PSL Invitational Conference already ended, De Leon shared it taught her lessons that she will carry on.
“Super fun, I had a really fun team. I really wanted to enjoy and I learned a lot,” she said.
“I was with coach Tai (Bundit) for the past four years. It was nice to learn with other coaches also. Iba 'yung pattern, iba 'yung ginagawa sa training,” she added.
Known for her never-give-up attitude, De Leon pointed out that Foton’s seventh place finish in a 10-team tournament was something that only brought out the best in team.
It was a tough journey for the Tornadoes after losing three consecutive games in the preliminary round before getting back up on their feet to cap off the conference with three straight wins, including a win by default over University of the East-Cherrylume.
“In a sense, those (loses) are always welcome. Syempre, it's sad. But, as our coaches said, with those losses came a lot of changes, good changes both in our perspectives and our attitude toward the game,” said de Leon.
“It really changed a lot, towards the end, we got to where we wanted, but it's a short league. Sayang. But it got better naman,” she added.
