PETRON clobbered F2 Logistics, 25-14, 25-15, 25-16, on Thursday for its second win in as many matches in the 2016 PLDT Home Ultera Philippine Superliga Invitational at The Arena in San Juan.
Bang Pineda delivered 10 kills and finished with a match-high 12 points on top of 10 digs, while Aiza Maizo-Pontillas and Mina Aganon scored 10 apiece as Petron took the win in an hour and eight minutes.
Petron converted nine aces while F2 Logistics had none.
"We improved our passing and services," said Petron coach George Pascua, who led Petron to a 13-0 sweep of the All-Filipino Conference last year.
"F2 Logistics was out of sync because were able to pack our services with power. Loaded lahat ng services namin and we hit a specific target which also took their spikers of their comfort zone," Pascua added.
Petron posted an 11-point advantage, 19-8, in the third as F2 Logistics committed numerous errors and played sluggish on defense.
"If you will take a look at its lineup, F2 Logistics is more skilled than us," added Pascua.
Petron faces struggling New San Jose Builders on Saturday at Batangas City Sports Center, looking to get a boost ahead of the match with powerhouse RC Cola-Army next week.
"We prepared hard, studied them carefully and took the game away from them. It was a total team effort. Everybody played their respective roles very well."
Aby Marano scored eight points to lead F2 Logistics, which welcomed the return of former La Salle star Paneng Mercado.
The Cargo Movers need to win their final match against Cignal to improve their chances of advancing to the final round where a team from Thailand will join the three top local squads in the tournament bankrolled by Asics, Mikasa, Senoh, Mueller and Grand Sports with TV5 as official broadcast partner.
