LIPA, Batangas -- RC Cola Army outside hitter Rachel Anne Daquis is feared to have suffered a muscle tear on her left heel early in the game against Foton in the second round of the Philippine Super Liga All Filipino Conference at the De La Salle Lipa campus.
The FIVB World Club Women's Championship-bound spiker was left limping after an awkward landing during the first set and the team's physical therapist advised her to sit out the rest of the match.
Daquis said she already felt pain in the same area during their elimination round match against F2 Logistics last Saturday but still decided to played the following day.
"Noong first game pa lang namin ng F2, patapos na ang game parang may pumitik," she said while holding on to her left heel. "Tapos noong second game namin, 'di ba naglaro pa rin ako, pinilit ko pa rin."
RC Cola Army physical therapist Alyssa Paula Tomas said she decided not to allow Daquis back in the game as she feared the injury might get worse.
"Kasi meron siyang bone spur dito sa may left heel niya, ngayon kasi sobrang tight ng calf niya nababatak sa may heel kaya sumasakit. Kanina pag push off niya may nag-pop so hindi pa namin alam, 'di rin kami sure if may punit kaya 'di na siya nakabalik (sa laro). Ipapa-ultrasound namin bukas para malaman ang (findings)," she said.
RC Cola Army bowed to Foton, 25-18, 15-25, 17-25, 25-23, 9-15, for its third successive loss.
