BACOOR CITY — Ara Galang led a balanced F2 Logistics attack in a 25-23, 25-19, 25-23 victory over Foton in the Philippine Superliga (PSL) Invitational Conference on Tuesday at the Bacoor Strike Gym.
Galang delivered 14 points off 12 kills and two blocks as he once again led the way for the Cargo Movers, who improved to 3-1 win-loss, good for first place in Pool D, despite missing Kalei Mau due to an Achilles injury.
Desiree Cheng and Kianna Dy chipped in 11 points as F2 dispatched Foton in one hour and 52 minutes.
Buoyed by their performance in the national team’s bronze-medal finish in the recently-concluded ASEAN Grand Prix, Majoy Baron added 11 markers while Dawn Macandili had 20 digs and 11 excellent receptions for F2 Logistics.
“Medyo hirap pa kasi nangangapa pa kami doon dahil matagal hindi nakapag-practice yung ibang mga players namin,” said F2 Logistics head coach Ramil De Jesus on his national players.
“So far pinipilit naman nilang maka-adjust kaagad kasi especially doon sa setting iba na pagka-national team ka, iba na yung dito malaking adjustment ulit.”
The Tornadoes managed to put up a gallant stand despite missing sisters Eya and EJ Laure, who had to attend to academic matters.
“Yung Foton din kasi galing sa panalo so mataas din ang nilalaro. Kailangan lang namin sabayan. Sabi ko sa kanila lamang naman tayo ng experience compared sa Foton, kailangan maging organize yung blocking and floor defense.”
Shaya Adorador led Foton with 16 points while Justine Dorog had 11 markers and 13 excellent receptions, only for their squad to fall on the brink of elimination with a 1-3 record.
