ARA Galang had a winning debut for F2 Logistics in the Philippine Super Liga All Filipino Conference, but she’s not looking too far ahead in the team’s campaign.
The former La Salle captain was off to a good start after finishing with 11 points in the Cargo Movers’ 25-12, 23-25, 25-20, 25-11, win over Cignal on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.
Unlike La Salle teammates Mika Reyes, Kim Fajardo, Kim Dy, Dawn Macandili, Majoy Baron and Cyd Demecillo, the game served as Galang’s first ever in the three- year old club league.
“I think, for me, it’s all good kasi nanalo naman kami so parang positive ‘yun for me,” said Galang.
“Pero hindi naman masabi agad kasi first game pa lang, marami pang games na pagdadaanan,” she added.
The hard-hitting open spiker also added having her college teammates plus former Lady Spikers Cha Cruz and Aby Marano on board made it easier for her to play her first match in the league.
“May advantage ‘yun, positive side, kasi kilala nila ako and kilala ko sila,” she said.
Meanwhile, Galang switched her jersey number to 6 from her college playing uniform of 8, which she also used when she was still in high school at Angeles University Foundation.
The soft-spoken Angeles, Pampanga native, however, refused to give details regarding the change in jersey number
“Madami naman nagpapalit a and for me kasi special din ang No. 6 sa akin,” she said. “Tapos na rin naman ako sa UAAP so this season naman sa PSL iba naman. Gusto ko ‘yung maging (jersey) number ko is ‘yung pinaka-special sa akin.”
