ARA Galang is enjoying the competition in the Philippine Super Liga Grand Prix as she learns and improves while playing with and against imports.
The former UAAP MVP is seeing action in her first PSL Grand Prix, unlike her La Salle teammates Mika Reyes, Kim Fajardo, Kim Dy and Majoy Baron.
The F2 star said she is not merely accepting a diminished role and let imports do the work. Rather she wants to improve while measuring herself against tougher competition.
“Siguro ’yung mindset ko lang na ’di ako pwede makuntento, kailangan ko mag-improve every game, kailangan bawat training may kailangan ako i-work out,” said Galang.
In a four-set win over Cignal, American imports Sydney Kemper and Hayley Spelman scored 18 and 17 points, respectively, with Galang again giving a good account of herself with 13 points, 10 digs and 10 excellent receptions.
“Malaking bagay ’yun ’di lang locals ang kalaban mo may imports pa, kailangan ma-step up mo ’yung sarili mo,” she added.
“First time ko rin mag-Grand Prix and syempre nakaka-excite din magandang kalaban ang mga imports may matututunan ka sa kanila,” she said.
Galang and the Cargo Movers gear up for a tougher challenge as they take on Petron in the knockout semifinals on December 3 in Legazpi City, Albay.
