GENERIKA-Ayala is hopeful that Angeli Araneta’s injury isn’t serious so she can return in the latter part of the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference.
Araneta on Sunday suffered a left knee injury in the fifth set of their second round loss to F2 Logistics last Saturday and was initially diagnosed with a strain while the Lifesavers squad are praying for the best as her MRI result will be out Friday.
“Strained pa lang sabi ng PT kasi nakakalakad si Neta,” said Generika-Ayala head coach Sherwin Meneses. “Pero tomorrow pa talaga yung critical na malalaman sa injury ni Neta.“
Meneses shared that their team captain has been well for the past days since she had an awkward landing from a spike.
“Okay naman daw yung pakiramdam hopefully maganda yung findings tomorrow,” he said. “Sabi naman ng PT namin yung (remaining) games namin sa preliminary baka makakalaro pa siya.”
Carol Cerveza and Mean Mendrez are filling in the big shoes of Araneta as they are taking on Sta. Lucia as of posting time at the Arena in San Juan City.
Meneses hopes that both of their back-up opposite spikers will step up big time for now.
“Magmove on na kay Neta muna kasi may game kami ngayon,” he said. “Yung senior naman andyan si Carol then freshman andyan si Mendrez so sana magstep up yung dalawa as in dalawa hindi isa.”
