ANGELI Araneta and the whole Generika-Ayala team are praying that her left knee injury is not serious as she undergoes MRI on Monday.
PSL Doctor Raul Alcantara said it could be a sprain or the worst case scenario is an ACL injury upon checking on Araneta.
But it still depends on the MRI result on Monday.
The ex-University of the Philippines left the Arena walking on crutches with her left knee having muscle tapes admitting that it really hurts.
“Namamaga pa kasi siya pero very light lang. Pero masakit siguro seven over ten yung sakit,” said Araneta, who put up 11 points and 27 digs as the Lifesavers stayed at No. 4 with 6-5 win-loss record.
But she is hoping for the best result on Monday.
Generika-Ayala absorbed a double whammy as it lost Araneta late in the fifth set and failed to complete the upset to F2 Logistics, 19-25, 27-25, 22-25, 25-18, 13-15, in the Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference on Saturday at the Arena in San Juan City.
Araneta kept the Lifesavers afloat in the fifth set equalizing the frame at 12-all but she landed awkwardly after her attack and wasn’t able to stand up.
“Sabay naman kasi yung land (ng mga paa) ko pero paside so may parang kumalas tas bumalik then sobrang nagvibrate siya so sobrang sakit talaga,” Araneta said.
The team captain was carried by her teammates and coaching staff to the bench, where her knee was treated with ice, but failed to return in the match.
Despite the injury, Araneta is still proud for the gallant fight they showed against unbeaten F2 Logistics as Generika-Ayala was the first team to push the unbeaten leader in five sets.
“Halos lahat kami nasayangan pero very close fight naman. Kami pa yung first time na makakafive sets ang F2,” said Araneta. “I think it’s still a good sign para sa team namin kasi meron kaming low moments pero ngayon parang nareredeem ulit namin yung sarili namin.”
