FORMER University of the Philippines skipper Angeli Araneta spoiled her alma mater’s debut as she led Generika-Ayala to a rousing debut in the Philippine Super Liga Invitational Conference on Saturday at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
Araneta poured in a game-high 26 points and got plenty of help as Life Savers put away a 25-23, 25-9, 23-25, 25-16 win at the expense of the Lady Maroons.
Patty Orendain and Ria Meneses added 18 and 11 markers, respectively, for Generika-Ayala in a match that took almost two hours to finish.
“‘Yun ‘yung number one na sinabi ko, aggressive ‘yung UP pero syempre ‘di naman sila ganun pang katanda so kailangan mag-double-time sila kasi syempre lalaban at lalaban ang UP,” said Generika-Ayala coach Sherwin Meneses.
Isa Molde finished with 15 points for UP-UAI, while Nicole Magsarile added 11.
