DEFENDING champion Petron is off to a solid start in the Philippine Super Liga All Filipino Conference, whipping Foton, 25-19, 25-17, 25-21, on Saturday at The Arena in San Juan.

Aiza Maizo-Pontillas led the way for the Tri-Activ Spikers with 16 points, all on 16 spikes, while Remy Palama had nine points and Bernadeth Pons added eight.

Petron joined F2 Logistics in the early lead.

“Sabi ko sa kanila umpisahan natin ng maganda para matapos din ng maganda,” said Petron coach George Pascua.

“Satisfied ako pero kailangan i-maintain lang namin kasi ang usapan dito paano mo siya uumpisahan at tatapusin,” he added.

The Tri-Activ Spikers served pretty well, preventing the Tornadoes from creating plays for Jaja Santiago, Patty Orendain and Sisi Rondina.

“Stop Jaja and ma-penetrate siya pati sina Orendain at Rondina na na-achive naman namin,” said Pascua.

“Sa service namin doon kami nag-take advantage kaya si Jaja hindi naka kuha masyado at saka sina Rondina at Orendain hindi nakaatake ng maganda,” he added.

Santiago scored 10 points for Foton, Rondina added seven and Orendain had four.
