F2 Logistics clobbered Petron Sorint 4T, 21-7, 21-16, in Pool B of the Philippine SuperLiga Beach Volleyball Challenge Cup on Saturday at the Sands SM By The Bay.
The tandem of Aby Maraño and last year's champion Danika Gendrauli executed a game plan to perfection against Maica Morada and Ces Molina despite having only a week to prepare for the tournament.
Maraño, who admitted that she felt pressure not to disappoint Gendrauli, actually impressed the veteran beach volleyball player.
"Maganda 'yung nilaro namin, nag-click ang service namin tapos konting errors lang nagawa namin," said Gendrauli, who teammed up with Norie Jane Diaz to lead Giligan's to last year's title.
"Sinabi ko sa kaya na, dapat 'wag ka mahihiya sa akin kasi palagi niya sinasabi sa akin na nape-pressure daw siya kasi defending champion ako. Sabi ko sa kanya, 'Wag ming iisipin na ganoon kasi ako hindi ako nag-iisip na defending champion ako kasi ibang laro na naman ito," added Gendrauli.
F2 Logistics leaned on drop balls, strong serves and 1-2 combination play to seal the victory.
"Gusto ko kasi talaga magawa ang best ko for Danika and you know naman na hindi ako beach volleyball player talaga, kaya hanggang maaari gagawin ko ang best ko para 'wag ko siya madisappoint," said Maraño.
Earlier in the day, Morada and Molina downed Florence Madulid and Pauline Genido of Standard Insurance Navy B, 21-17, 21-14.
Petron Sprint 4T now carry an even record, 1-1.
