ABY Marano and Ara Galang showed the way as F2 Logistics defeated Generika-Ayala, 25-12, 25-21, 25-17, on Saturday in the opener of the 2019 Philippine Superliga All-Filipino Conference at the Arena in San Juan.
The Cargo Movers came up with a fine start even without Kalei Mau, who was signed after the disbandment of United Volleyball Club but did not suit up.
Head coach Ramil de Jesus said Mau, acquired on Wednesday, still doesn’t have a playing uniform. Team manager Hollie Reyes said Mau had only three training days with F2 Logistics.
Still, the Cargo Movers scored a quick win over the Lifesavers, with Galang and Marano leading the way in the one-hour and 21-minute demolition.
Marano scored 15 points, making five of the Cargo Movers’ 11 blocks against Generika-Ayala, which didn’t score a single block.
Galang nailed 10 kills, finishing with 11 points and 11 digs. Majoy Baron and Desiree Cheng had eight points apiece.
Kianna Dy, returning from knee injury, scored seven markers.
“Maganda sa side namin at least may La salle connection yun yung advantage,” said De Jesus.
“Siguro hindi pa masyadong nag-gel yung Generika first game jitters siguro hindi pa natin makikita lahat ng teams na nasa magandang form,” he added.
F2 Logistics eyes its second win when it faces PLDT Home Fibr on Tuesday.
Fiola Ceballos led the Lifesavers with 10 points, libero Kath Arado had 17 digs and seven excellent receptions.
Generika-Ayala seeks bounce back also on Tuesday against Marinerang Pilipina.
