PHILIPPINE Air Force bagged the third place after a quick 25-21, 25-21, 25-20 win over Cignal on Thursday in Spikers' Turf at The Arena in San Juan on Tuesday.
The Airmen completed the win in hour and 15 minutes, a surprisingly easy match after needing five sets to win the opener of the best-of-three series.
Jeffrey Malabanan led Air Force with 17 points, while Edwin Tolentino and Ruben Inaudito added 14 and 12, respectively.
Clarence Esteban, former coach of the Air Force women's team, had eight points, three digs and 10 excellent reception.
"Lahat naman nagho-hope mag-champion pero talagang malakas ang PLDT at Cagayan pero happy kami sa third place finish," said Air Force coach Rhovyl Verayo.
Edmar Bonono made 10 markers for Cignal, while skipper Jay dela Cruz chipped in nine.
