KIM Dy said the La Salle Lady Spikers are too excited to feel any pressure ahead of their title-retention bid in the UAAP Season 79 women’s volleyball tournament.

Focus turns to Dy, the Finals MVP of Season 78, with the departure of key players Ara Galang, Mika Reyes and Cyd Demecillo as the Lady Spikers eye a 10th UAAP crown.

But she shrugs off any talk of pressure ahead of the tournament.

“Super, super excited and ’yung aura namin sa training sobrang pumped up na kami for this season,” said Dy.

“I don’t really think of the pressure kasi if I think about the pressure hindi ako makakagalaw ng maayos,” she added.

Dy also waved off suggestions there is a lot resting on her shoulders now with the departure of Reyes and Co., noting the Lady Spikers remain a pretty balanced team.

“We’re just thinking of what we can do and kung ano ang magagawa namin for the school."

La Salle still has Kim Fajardo, Majoy Baron and Dawn Macandili who with Dy got valuable experience seeing action for a F2 Logistics side that won the Philippine Super Liga All-Filipino Conference title in July followed by a bronze medal finish in the PSL Grand Prix in December.

“I think lahat naman kami may responsibility sa loob ng court and I do what I can do to help the team,” she added.

La Salle did not send the Lady Spikers to overseas training, while perennial finals rival went to Thailand and Japan, but Dy doesn’t think that puts her team at a disadvantage.

“Well I’m not really sure kasi never pa namin na-experience ang mag-training abroad so I’m not really sure if that’s an advantage,” she said.

La Salle starts its title-retention bid on February 5 against Far Eastern University at the Araneta Coliseum.
