GRETCHEL Soltones moved up to third in the league’s scoring list as San Sebastian College-Recoletos downed Emilio Aguinaldo College, 25, 19, 25-23, 25-22, in the 89th NCAA women’s volleyball tournament on Tuesday at The Arena in San Juan.
Soltones, who hails from Cebu, poured in 26 points for SSC to hike her total to 145 and move past San Beda’s Ces Molina, who has 133.
The hard hitting sophomore is behind only San Beda’s Janine Marciano, who has 157, and Perpetual Help’s Honey Tubino, who has 146.
The Recto-based squad improved its win-loss record to 5-2, joning San Beda and back-to-back defending champion University of Perpetual Help in third spot.
Arellano leads with a 6-1 mark followed by College of St. Benilde with a 5-1 card.
Charmille Belleza had 12 markers for EAC, which slid to the sixth place at 4-3.
Arellano defeated Mapua Institute of Technology, 25-11, 25-9, 25-14, in the second match.
The Lady Chiefs needed only 53 minutes to turn back the pesky Lady Cardinals.
Menchie Tubiera made 12 points, Cristine Rosario had nine, while Angelica Legacion, Lexy Oserio and Donna Henson combined for 23 points for EAC.
Arellano also scored on 10 service aces against three by Mapua and had five blocks compared to two of MIT.
Alissa Magallanes and Angelica Guardian had four markers apiece for Mapua (1-6).
