ALYSSA Solomon introduced herself to the Japan SV.League in style with her first Player of the Game honor for defending champion Osaka Marvelous.
The former National U standout put up a team-best 13 points on nine attacks, three blocks and one ace off the bench as Osaka routed Aranmare Yamagata in a 25-21, 25-21, 25-16 sweep on Sunday.
She backstopped Belgian national team ace and Osaka’s leading scorer Lise Van Hecke who churned out 10 points.
Osaka rose to 2-2 after a shaky start to its title defense.
Through four games, the Alas Pilipinas star has produced 33 points (8.25 per game) built on 29 attacks with a 41.4 percent success rate, three aces and one block.
Solomon also got the better of a familiar regional foe in Thailand’s Ajcharaporn Kongyot, whose national teams had a fair share of duels over the last year in various Asian competitions.
The Thai volleyball stalwart posted 14 attacks to pace the loss that kept Aranmare winless in four opening matches.
First loss for Jaja
Jaja Santiago’s (Sachi Minowa) perfect three-game start with her new team Denso Airybees ended at the hands of Astemo Rivale on Sunday.
The Fil-Japanese middle blocker had 12 points on an 11-of-16 attacking clip and one block.
Denso drew level with Astemo at 3-1 for a share of fourth place.
