SHOLA Alvarez scored a season-high 30 points to lead Jose Rizal University past Letran, 22-25, 28-26, 25-17, 25-16, in the NCAA Season 93 women’s volleyball tournament on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.
Alvarez was also impressive in defense with 20 digs and eight excellent receptions to lift JRU to share the fifth spot with a 5-3 win-loss card tied with San Sebastian College.
Dolly Verzosa also had 17 markers for the Lady Bombers, who improved their chances of making the cut for the Final FOu.
Glayssa Torres and Jaymeleene Parin had 16 and 15 points, respectively, for Letran, while Rhosselle Urriza made 11.
The Lady Knights dropped to 3-5 at the seventh spot.
