MONTALBAN, Rizal — All but one player will be available for consideration as Alas Pilipinas gears up for the 2025 Southeast Asian (SEA) V.League this August.
La Salle spiker Shevana Laput has been ruled out of the nationals’ next international tournament after missing both the AVC Nations Cup and the VTV Cup.

Alas head coach Jorge Souza de Brito explained Laput’s expected absence from national team duties.
“As [far as] I know, we are just missing one. In this case, it’s [Shevana] Laput. She still has some medical requirements and of course [other matters with] La Salle,” de Brito said.
“I don’t know exactly [why] but for sure, it’s the only name that you’re gonna miss in this preparation for the SEA V.League.”

Leg 1 of the SEA V.League will run from August 1 to 3 in Vietnam, followed by the second leg from August 8 to 10 in Thailand.
Laput, 20, won the UAAP Season 87 best opposite hitter award after missing out on a second championship in a two-game title series sweep to National University.
Citizenship concerns
The 6-foot-2 winger is still affiliated with Volleyball Australia, posing concerns on her eligibility to play for the Philippines in FIVB-sanctioned tournaments for now.
As such, she wouldn’t have been eligible to play in the Nations Cup but could’ve participated in the VTV Cup which was only an invitational tournament not bound by FIVB player eligibility rules.
While Fil-Americans Brooke Van Sickle, MJ Philliips and Tia Andaya are expected to have their federation shift paperworks sorted within the week, nothing is set in stone yet for Laput’s plans moving forward.
