DEFENDING champion Cignal and last year’s runner-up Philippine Air Force arranged a Finals rematch after they defeated their respective foes in the best-of-three semifinals series of the 2nd Spikers’ Turf Reinforced Conference at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City on Monday.

The HD Spikers dominated Champion Supra Spikers, 25-20, 25-19, 25-20, while the Jet Spikers bombed Instituto Estetico Manila, 23-25, 25-16, 25-12, 25-17.

Former San Beda ace Lorenzo Capate Jr. finished with 12 points for Cignal, while Ateneo alum Ysay Marasigan added 11 and La Salle star Raymark Woo chipped in 10.

Champion Supra skipper Ace Mandani was the lone player to score in double figures with 10 points for the Spikers.

Meanwhile, Air Force leaned on National University star Bryan Bagunas who scored 21 points, from 16 kills and five blocks, off the bench.

The Jet Spikers got an added boost from former University of Santo Tomas ace Mark Alfafara and Emilio Aguinaldo College alum Howard Mojica. The UAAP and NCAA MVPs made 18 and 13 points, respectively.

Air Force held IEM scorers to just a single digit output with former UST star JP Torres scoring only nine points and Canlas cousins Edan and Jason added seven markers apiece.

Cignal and Air Force will start its best-of-three championship series on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, IEM and Champion Supra will face in their own best-of-three series for the battle for the bronze medal.
