THE Vargas name won’t just have influence in Philippine basketball.

Nearly a month after his father Ricky's election as Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) president, Miko Vargas has also been voted into the executive board of the Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) for a third straight term.

The 45-year-old sports patron received the fifth-highest number of votes (38) in Friday’s PNVF special general assembly, securing a spot on the 13-member executive board.
And for the third consecutive term, Vargas did not seek a top executive post.
In 2023, the former PBA chairman’s son also assumed the presidency of Philippine Swimming, Inc. through a unanimous vote.

Joining him on the PNVF board for the next two years are Charo Soriano, Fr. Vic Calvo, OP, Sherwin Maganda, Daniel Cong-o, Edward Lee, and Ma. Socorro Calleja.
The executive board will operate under newly elected PNVF president Tony Boy Liao, with Dr. Arnel Hajan as chairman, vice president Yul Benosa, secretary-general Otie Camangian, treasurer Ricky Palou, and auditor Roger Banzuela.
The newly elected PNVF officials will begin their fresh two-year term on January 1, 2026, allowing the current leadership to complete responsibilities for the 33rd Southeast Asian (SEA) Games this December.
