BINAN — Sarmeyah Bank of Iran ended its campaign with a win in the battle for fifth place against Thongtin Lien Viet Post Bank of Vietnam, 25-23, 25-17, 25-23, on Sunday in the 2016 AVC Asian Women’s Club Championship on Sunday at Alonte Sports Arena.

Estefahani Maedeh Borhani scored 15 points, Farnoosh Sheikhi added 13 and Mahsa Saberi chipped in 10 for Sarmayeh Bank.

Although it fell short of the semifinals, fifth is still a big finish for Sarmeyah Bank after Iran finished ninth in the nine-team field last year in Vietnam.

Sarmayeh Bank had seven service aces, while Thongtin Lien Viet Post Bank had none.

Do Thi Minh made 13 points for Vietnam, which finished seventh last year, while Tran Ton Nu Ly Linh added 10.
