WITH a former UST cub leading the way, the National University Lady Bulldogs overpowered the Tigresses 25-16, 25-23, 23-25, 25-13 on Wednesday in the 75th UAAP women's volleyball tournament at the Arena in San Juan.
Rookie Dindin Santiago, a former UST girls high school team member, led the Lady Bulldogs with 24 points, including 18 attacks and three service aces.
NU looked in control before UST made a run to steal the third, but the Lady Bulldogs posted an early 11-1 lead in the fourth set to seal the win.
Myla Pablo, Aiko Urdas and Maricar Nepomuceno contributed 18, 12 and 11, respectively.
NU is now tied with UST with 1-1 win-loss records.
Pamela Lastimosa finished with 12 markers for the Tigresses.
Ateneo earlier defeated University of the East 25-16, 25-12, 25-13 to take the top spot in the standings.
Fille Cainglet scored 13 to lead the Lady Eagles to their second win in as many games. Alyssa Valdez chipped in 10.

University of the Philippines downed UST 25-21, 18-25, 25-11, 25-23 in the other men’s game.
Dominico Luciondo had 13 points, while Sam Paquiz and Julius Raymundo each had 12 points for the Fighting Maroons, who are now tied with the Tigers at 1-1.
