San Sebastian edges Letran for first victory

    Apr 23, 2013

SAN Sebastian grabbed its first win in the 10th Shakey's V-League First Conference as it turned back Letran College, 25-17, 23-25, 25-23, 25-23, on Tuesday at the Arena in San Juan.

Thai reinforcement Jeng Bualee came away with 25 points to lead the Lady Stags, while guest player Suzanne Roces and Jolina Labiano added 19 and 18, respectively.

"I'm happy because we lost two games already, and now we won when we needed to win," said Bualee.

Bualee, scored 38 points in a loss to University of Santo Tomas on Thursday, said she'd rather have a low-point game and win rather having a monster output and end up losing.

"If we win and I score fewer points I’ll be happy,” she said.

The one-time league champion SSC belles, tied with La Salle-Dasmariñas at the third spot with a 1-2 record, have to win their game against the Dasmariñas on Sunday to claim a place in the quarterfinals.

Letran Thai import Patcharee Sangmuang came away with 20 markers, while Sarah Jane Espelita and Mellisa Cu contributed 10 apiece. The Lady Knights remained winless in three games.
