JANINE Janine Marciano and Frances Molina showed the way as San Beda College downed Arellano University, 25-23, 23-25, 25-16, 25-22, in the NCAA Season 89 women’s volleyball tournament on Wednesday at The Arena in San Juan.
Marciano scored 28 points and Molina had 25 for San Beda. Menchie Tubiera finished with 13 markers, while Danna Henson chipped in 10 for the Lady Chiefs.
College of St. Benilde defeated Lyceum of the Philippines, 25-15, 25-23, 25-19.
Jeanette Panaga came up with 18 points from 11 spikes, three blocks and four service aces for the Taft-based spikers, while Therese Veronas and Jannine Navarro added 10.
Jhemil Abadilla came through with 12 markers for the Lady Pirates.
San Beda and St. Benilde both scored twinkills as their men’s teams also came up with victories.
The Red Lions scored a 25-19, 25-22, 25-16 win over Arellano in 61 minutes.
Lorenzo Capate scored 19 points, while Gilbert Ablan contributed 13 for the Lions, while Lawrence del Espiritu finished with 13 markers from 11 hits, one block and one service ace for Arellano.
St. Benilde turned back Lyceum, 25-24, 25-18, 25-23, with John Vic Remulla chalking up 19 points and Isaah Arda adding 10.
