SAN Beda overcame Emilio Aguinaldo College, 18-25, 18-25, 26-24, 25-21, 15-12, on Monday for its first win in the Spikers’ Turf Collegiate Conference at the Philsports Arena in Pasig.
Yeshua Manliclic led the way with 13 points, and Gerald Zabala added 11 points all coming from spikes, as the Red Spikers scored a win after two losses.
San Beda coach Jose Roque fielded all 14 players in the grueling five-setter.
“Yung unang game, hindi pa nagbleblend yung team eh, tapos yung second game medyo okay na. This one, medyo slow yung start pero yun yung kailangan namin eh, i-value namin na medyo nagmamagaan sa start,” Roque said.
“We’re hoping na matuloy tuloy na namin ito, kasi yung goal namin we make sure na ma-sweep namin itong last two games para at least makapasok-pasok man lang, baka sakali maka-buwenas kami sa puntusan makapasok kami sa playoffs,” Roque added.
Israel Encina had 27 points, while Kerth Melliza added 12 markers for EAC, which suffered its third loss in as many matches.
San Beda next takes on University of the Philippines, while EAC will go up against winless NCBA.
