AIR Force made quick work of Instituto Estetico Manila, 25-17, 26-24, 25-23, on Monday to grab the second seeding in the Spikers Turf Open Conference in the Philsports Arena.
Rodolfo Labrador had 13 points, Howard Mojica scored 11 and Fauzi Ismail added 10 as the Airmen ended the elimination round in second place with a 4-1 win-loss record, while IEM fell to third with a 3-2 card.
Despite their dominating performance, Air Force coach Rhovyl Verayo admitted that he was not happy with his team’s performance after the Airmen blew a six-point advantage, 12-6, in the third set.
“Yung consistency sana hinahanap ko sa kanila. Ang laki na ng lamang namin sa first set, pagdating ng second set hinabol nanaman, close fight nanaman sila. Tapos pagdating ng third set lumamang na kami ng anim, hinabol nila uli,” he said.
The Volley Masters had no players hitting double digits, with Karl Ian de la Calzada coming up with just eight points, Jason Canlas contributing seven, and the usually hard-hitting Greg Dolor adding a measly four points.
