Brazilian club edges Japanese team in battle for fifth place in FIVB world meet

REXONA Sesc Rio edged Hisamitsu Springs, 20-25, 25-22, 25-15, 30-32, 15-7, on Sunday in the battle for fifth pace in the FIVB Women’s Club World Championship at the MOA Arena.

Monique Pavao scored 21 points, Juicely Barreto added 20, Anne Bijis chipped in 16 and Gabi Guimaraes registered 15 for the Brazilian club.

Rexona Sesc Rio used a 7-1 run for a 10-4 lead in the fifth.

Risa Shinnabe scored 19 points, while Miyu Nagaoka and Yuki Ishii added 18 for Hisamitsu Springs Kobe.
