FEU Tams beat UP Maroons in straight sets, secure at least a playoff for semifinal spot

FAR Eastern University secured at least a playoff for a Final Four spot as it beat University of the Philippines, 25-22, 25-20, 25-21, on Wednesday in the UAAP men's volleyball tournament in San Juan.

FEU improved its record to 8-2, joining Ateneo in second place behind league National University, which holds a 9-1 card.

Redijohn Paler and Jude Garcia scored 13 points each for the Tamaraws, who handed the Fighting Maroons their second straight loss.

John Bugaoan added 11 points.

While FEU is on a roll, UP continued to struggle with a 3-7 card.

Wendel Miguel paced the Fighting Maroons with 13 points.

La Salle swept University of the East, 25-23, 25-17, 25-15, in the other match.

Arjay Onia had 18 points for the Green Spikers, who improved to a 4-6 slate while keeping the Red Warriors winless in 10 matches.
