SAN Beda came back from two sets down to rule the 13th Friendship and Solidarity Cup title at the La Salle-Lipa Sentrum in Lipa City, Batangas over the weekend.
The Red Lioness beat out College of St. Benilde in a close, five-set match, 21-25, 25-17, 21-25, 25-19, 15-12, behind the heroics of tournament MVP Ces Molina, a two-time Best Blocker in the NCAA.
This is the first time the team won the tournament since its inception in 2006.
“Our hard work paid off. I give credit to my players for a job well done,” said SBC mentor Ryan Jeorge Sucaldito.
The win avenged San Beda's four-set loss against the same team during the eliminations.
Molina combined with veterans Janine Marciano, Mona Diolazo, Coline Malana and setter Robey Remigio in leading the school to the championship.
